What would cause a washer machine motor to keep going out?
my motor went out last month and we put in a new one,now today my machine is acting up again it started to smoke and will not complete the wash cycle.I would replace the motor again but I think there must be a greater problem like a short or something any advice is apreciated =)
it is 5 years old and it is a kenmore stackable unit.
the likely cause for that is voltage drop,check the voltage at the receptacle to be sure it's correct,if it is then the drum may be locking up causing the motor to stall.make sure that you get a reputable appliance repair man to look at it.the new motor may not be good,or it was installed wrong but start with the voltage.if you have an amp meter you can see what the actual amp draw is when the machine is on.
