Frigidaire side by side fridge #FRS6LR5EM8, stuck in defrost mode! Not cold getting enough, Help Please!?
Frigidaire side by side fridge model #FRS6LR5EM8, stopped making ice and is stuck in defrost mode (i think). Both condensor fan and evaporator fan are working. Opened up back panel in the freezer side and found large ice block build up around the copper wires and the thermostat-defrost kit. Used hair dryer to melt ice block, restarted fridge, let run overnight and its still in defrost mode. Still not getting cold enough. Any one got any ideas? I would appreciate any help. Thanks!
if your fridge is stuck in the defrost mode then the evaporator and Condenser Fan motor will not be running. check the condition of your condenser coils.if they are dirty it will prevent your freezer from getting down to 16 degrees or lower which is the temp required to activate your ice maker to go into harvest mode and will not allow your fresh food compartment to reach the desired temp. it is possible that u have an erratic thermostat and giving your compressor a false signal that refrigerator is cold enough but in truth it is not cold enough.check coils and clean if necessary and place an appliance thermostat inside the refrigerator and check temp when u know that refrigerator has cycled off.
