Liquid Propane

Propane
Propane is by no means a new fuel. Millions of people have been using it worldwide for many years now already. But is propane something that is good for the environment? It might actually be much better than regular fossil fuels like gasoline and diesel. Propane tends to be widely used in such things as barbecues because it is cleaner burning and does not leave a bad flavor in the food. It is often used in many large vehicles as well but not as often in regular daily driven cars and trucks. It is something that could possibly be used more. It is interesting to note the differences between propane and regular gasoline.
This is the third most popular fuel source. It is currently used in millions of vehicles. It is a very common fuel source, often supplied at most gas stations. That makes it very easy to refuel when you use propane. That kind of convenience is very important when it comes to transportation and proper fuel consumption. There are many advantages to using propane. It burns much cleaner and therefore gives off less toxins and emissions than other fossil fuels. Propane also has a liquid state which makes it quite easy to deal with.
Propane also achieves relatively decent mileage. It is easily comparable with gasoline and often proven to be better. It is convenient and easy to access while being as easy as filling a regular gas tank. The price is quite reasonable as well. Because propane is in a liquid form, it is easily transportable from one place to another. Many propane users stock up on their supply so they do not have to seek out a gas station that also supplies propane. Of course, propane is a gas and it can be dangerous if not handled properly. If it were to leak, there could be possible danger. It is important to know how to safely use it.
One great aspect to propane is that it is abundantly found domestically. The United States imports plenty of its fossil fuels. This would save on imports if more people were to use propane. Even though all gases are flammable, propane tanks tend to be much more durable than a regular gas tank. For those seeking safety, this might be a great option. When compared with other gasoline, propane is less flammable overall.
Though propane is obviously much better than regular gasoline and diesel, it is still not the best possible fuel source. It does have some emissions and it is not as natural as other things that are currently under investigation. Consumers have a large role to play when it comes to finding a fuel solution that we can all live with. Making the choice to use propane is personal and should be based on facts. Get all of the necessary information on propane before switching over. It is just one more in a long list of possible fuels. Making a change is good for everyone as individuals and as a whole.

Can I use an old liquid propane tank for water storage to irrigate my garden?
The tank has been unused and open to the elements for approximately 15 years. This will collect rain water feeding a drip irrigation system in the garden. Are there any residual chemicals i should be concerned about? If I burn out the tank will that suffice?
thanks
Propane itself is non-toxic. The odourant that is added to it is pretty potent stuff though. I don't think you would ever get it out of the pores of the metal.
I would say go ahead and use it for flowers or something, but I wouldn't be using it on a vegetable garden for food you are going to eat.
